If you're a regular vistor, you know I talk about the website Fearnet.com quite often. It is one of the best horror sites I've found. Information, games, and free movies to watch are just a few of the reasons I visit this site nearly every day. Several weeks ago Fearnet previewed Horrorfest's 8 Movies to Die for. One of the movies that caught my eye was Borderland. The movie stared Rider Strong (Boy Meets World, Cabin Fever) and Sean Astin (Lord of the Rings, Rudy, The Goonies) in a minor, yet important role. The movie claims to be based on true events which nearly always adds to the interest of a film. In a nutshell, the movie is about three friends on a road trip to Mexico looking to express their hormonal needs. The Rider Strong character is kidnapped by a Voodoo like cult to be sacrificed to their god. There is a good amount of gore and the acting is very good. Sean Astin plays an evil character who is caught up in this Voodoo cult, mainly to avoid the US cops. The movie is similar to Hostal without all the T&A and is better written and directed. Tina and I watched it last night and were pleasantly surprised how good this movie is. Many of the 8 Movies to Die for over the past several years have not been that great. However, this one was quite good and I think any horror fan will enjoy this one... well worth a watch!
