My Son, Cory Godbey's Blog...

I wanted to digress from a horror post, because I wanted to share a very special blog with you. My son, Cory has had a blog for a lot longer than I have. It was after reading his blog for quite sometime that I decided that I wanted to do a blog. So I guess you could say, he was my inspiration. His blog is listed on my blog, but often, people don't look at blog lists unless the blog name really sticks out to them. I decided to give all of you a reason to look at his blog. Cory is a very talented artist. He works for Portland Studios in Greenville, SC. http://www.portlandstudios.com/ This is their website. They are illustrators, animators, and much more.

His blog is filled with his work, both finished product and doodles at times. He has illustrated children's books, book covers, worked on animated TV commercials, and even published a picture book. The book is called Ticket and is available for sell on his blog. There is a You Tube video below of the many pictures that he drew for your viewing. I'm very proud of Cory and I wish him continued success in a very difficult field to make it in... but so far so good!

I guess in a way there is a "horror" aspect to this post. Cory's mom and I were divorced 8 years ago and things have been very straind since then. Divorce can be so much harder on the children then the parents. It was a relief for me to get out of his mom's life... I never intended to be out of my children's life. Their mom had other ideas and made it nearly impossible for me to see them. The fact that I moved to New Hampshire and they live in South Carolina didn't help either. I'm hopeful that both Cory and Courtney will find it in their hearts to forgive me for hurting them and tearing a rip in their family life. I do hold hope that they will and things can be repaired before it is too late. Enough of that... check out Cory's blog and the video clip of his book... good stuff!

Estate of Panic...

I was really looking forward to this show after seeing previews and all the info on several websites I visit. Tina and I watched it last night on the SciFi Channel and the show did NOT disappoint. It is one of the few reality shows that I really enjoy. I put some information as to what the show is all about in the middle of this post. There were many times while watching the show last night that I could feel the tension these contestants were feeling. A few of the "traps" they had to fight through were searching for money in a room that was filling with water and snakes! Another one was a room where the ceiling and walls were closing in on the contestants while each is trying to find as much money as possible. The final contestant won over $28,000. It is a really a great show and I highly recommend it! The host of the show is an actor named Steve Valentine (which is too funny to me because that is my cousin's name!) He does a pretty good job as the creepy host to his guest. The show works because it has fast movement to it, it preys on the fears of it contestants, and there is a lot of tension to each part of the "game". The video clip below is a series of several commercials for the show. You should really check this show out! It is on the SciFi Channel Wednesdays at 10pm!

The host: Steve Valentine

There's no place like this home. Estate of Panic turns nightmares into reality and pushes phobias to the limit.

Each week, a new group of contestants enter the estate searching for money hidden inside of booby-trapped rooms. The walls in one cave in, creating a hopelessly small space. Can the contestants survive it? Then thousands of creepy, crawling bugs line the walls and floor of another room, and flooding water rises by the second in another.

Throughout it all, contestants must remain calm because if they panic, they won't get paid.

The game begins with seven contestants who compete in three nerve-wracking challenges. After each challenge two are eliminated and their winnings are added back into the prize pot. The last person standing faces a final challenge in the Vault Room.

In Estate of Panic it's winner-take-all — if players can overcome their fears.

The Lodger...

This film will be coming out in late December this year. It is a remake of a 1927 Alfred Hitchcock movie of the same name. It was one of Hitchcock's first movies and is considered to be just an average film. The trailer below is for the remake. The synopsis below gives all the details and cast. It is basically a "Jack The Ripper" type of movie where the killer uses methods that were used by The Ripper in London in the late 1800's. The trailer looks pretty good. I find these type of movies to be more thrillers than horror, but the graphic violence tends to put it in the horror genre. This movie has potential and hopefully it will pull it off and be a very good horror/thriller. Johnny Depp played in a Ripper type movie called From Hell (2001) and is a pretty good movie. The Ripper is an interesting character because he was never caught... that's what makes him unique in criminal history. So check out the trailer for The Lodger and look for it in December.

SYNOPSIS

Alfred Molina, Hope Davis, and Simon Baker star in a terrifying adaptation of the book on which Alfred Hitchcock's silent classic is also based. THE LODGER follows a grizzled detective on the trail of a ruthless killer intent on slaughtering prostitutes along West Hollywood's Sunset Strip.

It appears that the murderer's grisly methods are identical to that of London's infamous 19th century psychopath Jack the Ripper - a relentless¬ serial killer who was never caught by police. To make matters worse, the detective soon notices the parallels between the crimes committed by the West Hollywood stalker and those of a serial murderer incarcerated years ago.

Blade II...

This is one of the best vampire series ever made... I know what you're thinking, is this the same guy who hates Hollywood's modern day vampire??? OK, you got me on that one. However, for what ever reason, the day walker Blade is a great vampire. I'm sure the fact that Wesley Snipes plays the lead has something to do with it as well... the guy is awesome in the role. I can't say that this is my favorite Blade movie because I really enjoy all three, but it is a great movie. I truly do appreciate the innovative approach to this movie. There's a mutant vampire that is a "super" vampire who feeds on humans as well as vampires. The story line is so well written and entertaining. You don't have to watch these movies in order because each story is fairly independent of each other. I love the role Kris Kristofferson plays as Whistler, the old "protector" of Blade. Also, Ron Perlman plays an important role of an adversary to the Blade character and the video at the end of this post is my VERY favorite battle between Snipes and Perlman... great stuff! I strongly recommend watching the entire series. We watched this movie the other night on Spike TV and even though I hate watching movies on TV because of commercials, I had to watch this one! Check out the video clip!

Summary:
A rare mutation has occurred within the vampire community. The Reaper. A vampire so consumed with an insatiable bloodlust that they prey on vampires as well as humans, transforming victims who are unlucky enough to survive into Reapers themselves. Now their quickly expanding population threatens the existence of vampires, and soon there won't be enough humans in the world to satisfy their bloodlust. Blade, Whistler (Yes, he's back) and an armory expert named Scud are curiously summoned by the Shadow Council. The council reluctantly admits that they are in a dire situation and they require Blade's assistance. Blade then tenuously enters into an alliance with The Bloodpack, an elite team of vampires trained in all modes of combat to defeat the Reaper threat. Blade's team and the Bloodpack are the only line of defense which can prevent the Reaper population from wiping out the vampire and human populations. Written by Sean Daly

After the events with Deacon Frost, Blade (Snipes) continues to destroy as many vampires as he can. A new breed of super-vampire has appeared, which becomes an even greater threat than any evil currently out there. A group of high powered vampires, led by Nyssa (Varela) and Asad (John-Jules) request help from Blade in order to take down Nomak (Goss). Can Blade work alongside the very things he vowed to destroy? Written by Film_Fan

Reapers, a new breed of vampire that feed off humans and vampires, emerge with plans for world domination and Blade must team with the Bloodpack, an elite team of vampire warriors specifically trained to hunt him, in order to defeat this new menace. Written by Vince Klortho

From Dusk Till Dawn (1996)...

I was looking through a few... OK, a lot of the sites I visit nearly everyday and I saw the title to this movie. I had not seen this movie before I mentioned it to Tina a few years ago and she said it was a good movie. I then decided to get it from Netflix. We watched it and I was really impressed with the wittiness, sarcasm, and gore! It was written by Quentin Tarantino who just happens to be one twisted SOB. It amazes me that someone can come up with such a bizarre story and call themselves sane. I guess the deeper question would be, "Why did I love this movie?" The movie starts off like an "action" thriller and once Clooney and Taratino reach the Mexican bar, it goes to full-blown vampire horror. Clooney is great as the sarcastic brother to the sickly-twisted Tarantino brother. You should do yourself a favor and rent this movie. Even if you are not a genuine vampire fan, you will appreciate all this movie has to offer. A funny side note... Cheech Marin plays three different characters in this movie and is great in all three! Here's what the movie is all about and a list of the cast...

Robbers-on-the-lam Seth (George Clooney) and Richard Gecko (Quentin Tarantino) take an ex-preacher (Harvey Keitel) and his kids hostage. On a race to the Mexican border, they rendezvous at a cantina, not knowing the owners and clientele are bloodthirsty vampires. That's when director Robert Rodriguez (Desperado) abruptly switches from hostage drama to tongue-in-cheek, vampiric melee, creating a blood-stained ode to 1960s Mexican horror movies.

Cast:
George Clooney, Quentin Tarantino, Harvey Keitel, Juliette Lewis, Ernest Liu, Salma Hayek, Cheech Marin, Danny Trejo, Fred Williamson, Tom Savini, and Kelly Preston.

XII The Movie...

This is one creepy looking movie trailer. The synopsis below gives the details of the movie, but the trailer pulls it together in a graphically violent manner. 12 jurors send a man to prison for a crime against a minor and while in prison, he is beaten within an inch of his life. Now he's out of prison and there are 12 jurors who may or may not live... how many will die??? We will have to wait until we see the movie!

SYNOPSIS

Claire Norris, a young waitress in a small-town diner, sat on a jury, along with eleven others and listened to the evidence against a man accused of a crime against a minor. After days of difficult deliberation, the man - Leonard Karlsson, Jr. - was found guilty.

In prison, the “unspoken rule” regarding such crimes was enforced - Karlsson was beaten by the other prisoners to within an inch of his life, his face severely disfigured as a result. Now out of prison, Karlsson returns to the town that held his trial. Still severely scarred and barely recognizable, he conceals his wounds…and his identity.

In one horrifying night, he once again faces the twelve jurors who decided his fate. This time, however, he decides theirs…

The Coffin...

I saw this movie trailer and thought it really looked good. It's a Thai film, but it is 80% English dialog, with 20% in Thai. Don't know if there are any subtitles in this film or not. The trailer looks so creepy! The Thai's believe if you lay in a coffin for several days, it will keep evil spirits away and give the individual good luck. This happens for the people in this film for a short time and then they become "haunted" by a "dead" woman. I'm not doing the trailer justice, so you really should check out the trailer! This film opened up #1 in Thailand. I look forward to it coming to DVD!

Inspired by a real life custom from Thailand, where people would sleep in a coffin for a specific number of days hoping it would ward away evil and bad luck. A young man and woman decide to perform the ritual. After that, positive things begin to happen but later terror sets in. With the help of a professor specialising in paranormal cases, they set out to exorcise the ghosts that haunt them, attempting to reverse the wheel of karma.

30 Days of Night Sequel...

I saw on several sites today that it is confirmed that there will be a sequel to a great movie 30 Days of Night. I'm so pleased to hear this! I thought the original was so fresh and entertaining. It really is one of my favorite vampire movies! The clip below is from my favorite scene. It is chilling and creepy! Check out the video below. The sequel "sounds" like it will be good as well... time will tell. From what I have read, (I See Dead.com) this is what the sequel is about:

Mandate International is selling the sequel to 30 Days of Night at the American Film Market.

The Ghost House Pictures project will be written by the first film's co-writer and graphic novel creator Steve Niles, as well as Ghost House's Ben Ketai.

In the follow-up, Stella Oleson (played by Melissa George in the first pic) seeks revenge on the blood-thirsty vampires that destroyed her sleepy Alaskan town.

The original was directed by David Slade and co-starred Josh Hartnett and Danny Huston.

Vampires and other opinions...

Everywhere you look these days there's vampire books and movies. I can't count how many sites I look at where vampires are all over the site. I admit it, it makes me proud. Vampires are my favorite horror creature... that is TRADITIONAL vampires. I really don't like how Hollywood has bastardized the vampire genre these days. I have complained about that on this blog many times. The movie Twilight is a young adult vampire romance novel that has been made into a PG-13 movie. I hope it is successful because it will cultivate a new generation of horror fans. However, the vampires do come out in the daylight... a no-no in my book! I will watch this when it comes out on DVD, but until then you should check out Dracula 2000. This movie is a GREAT vampire film! There are two trailers below... Dracula 2000 and Twilight... check them both out!

Grace...

I saw this trailer on Bloody-Disgusting.com last night and looked for the trailer on You Tube with no luck. Since BD.com doesn't have embedded codes, I copied the link so you can go to that site to view the trailer. Wow, does this movie look creepy! The synopsis below is from BD.com and it doesn't do the trailer justice. A "resurrected" baby that has a taste for blood... what a grizzly concept. You MUST see the trailer to appreciate just how disturbing this movie really is. Most of the actors are fairly new with the exception of Jordan Ladd who was in Cabin Fever (2003) a few years ago. This movie will be coming out sometime this coming year. It deals with a short film that was made in 2006 by the same name. The video below is a behind the scenes look at the short film, NOT the full-length feature film.

SYNOPSIS

GRACE revolves around Madeline Matheson, an eight months pregnant woman who is determined to deliver her unborn child, Grace, naturally. When an accident leaves Grace dead inside her, Madeline insists on carrying the baby to term. Weeks later, when Madeline delivers naturally, the child miraculously returns to life...

You can click on the title of this post, copy and paste this link to the address bar to view the trailer.

Here is a behind the scenes look at the original short film from 2006 which the full-length feature film deals with. The short starred Brian Austin Green (90210) and is an interesting look at what to expect from the feature. Check it out!

Nightmare New England...

Last night, Tina, Elise, Leeann, Ashley, Aaron, Chris, and myself loaded up two cars and headed to Nightmare New England. It took us about an hour and ten minutes to get there and I have to tell you, it was WORTH the trip. We all had a blast getting the crap scared out of us. It was the last night for this season, but don't fret... there's always next year. Not only did the place have four huge haunted houses, there was go-cart races (I finished last... go-cart had no power!), batting cages (didn't try it), fire pit, hot chocolate, and apple cider. It really was so much fun. We went through all the haunted houses twice. The Buried Alive house was really creepy. There were two areas in that house where it was pitch black and you had to push your way through two rubber walls that conformed to your body and it made you feel so claustrophobic. There was a "mental hospital" that had some of the weirdest characters and props that really had us jumping out of our skin. The worst... in the cemetery... hiding behind a large tombstone... a midget with a chainsaw!!! I kid you not! He came running at me (yes, I was in the lead position) with a real chainsaw piercing the night and scared the crap out of me! I ran like a scared little girl! Now, I know the chainsaw had no chain for obvious reasons, but it caught me off guard... OK, both times we went through! LOL! I'm really glad Tina found this place online. We all decided that we were going to save a few dollars every week for the next year so that we can go to several of these places throughout New Hampshire every weekend next October... it was just that much fun! Quick note...

I went out on a limb and tried a new template (background). I'm not the most computer literate individual, so this is going to be a work in progress. The thing is, I lost all my widgets... probably my fault. Also, I'm really not sure how to widen my blog like I had it before. I will keep working on it to get it where I want it. I just had to have the background with Pinhead on it when I saw it. So, the work begins... Tonight we are going to Nightmare New England in Litchfield, NH. It's supposed to be an awesome "haunted house" park and tonight is the last day. I'll let you know how it was tomorrow! Here's a brief description...

Nightmare New England is a massive 20-acre Halloween Scream Park located at Funway Park in Litchfield, NH. The scale and variety of the Park offers something for even the boldest of Halloween fanatics. We feature FOUR TERRIFYING Haunted Attractions at one location and a “Monster Midway” where you will be greeted by dozens of freakish characters that freely roam the grounds of the Scream Park. The Monster Midway will also feature concessions, gifts, photo opportunities, go-karts (voted #1 in NH!), batting cages, two themed 18-hole mini-golf courses and more!

Over 27,000 Sq. ft of terror await you at New England’s largest Halloween Scream Park!
