Tina and I watched a movie that was recommended by my friend Elise. Captivity is really not another attempt at the "torture/porn" genre that has infected the horror genre over the past several years. We've always had this in horror, especially in the 70's and 80's. Hostel was a movie that I thought was so full of itself that I really couldn't stand it. In the "old" days of horror, if the youth of America were having sex in a movie, then the "boogieman" got them and they died. The way it is now, they throw sex in and slap you in the face with it to the point of ridicules. I'm no prude, but whatever happened to the days when tension, mood, music, or in the Hitchcock days... silence, was what made a movie scary. I love movies where you feel as if there's a weight on your chest because of the tension. The writing, music, and direction are so important in making a movie great. Any one can throw in T&A and gore, but it doesn't make a movie good or bad. The story, editing, acting, and direction all have to come together to make a film great. That's why many movies today are just so poor. I know I sound obsessed with movies, and to a certain degree... it's true. But horror is my favorite genre and I love to be scared to death watching a tension filled horror flic! Captivity is a pretty good tension filled horror film... check out the trailer!

It's so true! The traditional horror movie recipe was if you had sex(especially if a virgin does) you are one of the first ones to go. Remember the Jason movies?! Too much of most of the movies out nowadays hinge on the sex factor. Sex is good, but if I wanted to watch a porn, I would rent one!
I agree with you Elise! Thanks for the comment!
