Laid to Rest...

SYNOPSIS

"Laid to Rest" is a terrifying story of a young girl who wakes up in a casket with a traumatic head injury and no memory of her identity. She quickly realizes she was abducted by a Deranged Serial Murderer and in an isolated rural town she must survive the night and outsmart the technologically inclined killer who is hellbent on finishing what he started.

This is the synopsis of a really interesting movie, Laid To Rest. I saw the trailer on Bloody-Disgusting.com. Check out the trailer...

Outpost...

Tina and I watched the movie Outpost last night. It's and interesting movie that was very much like the movie The Bunker (2001) that we had watched a year or so ago. Both deal with WWII German soldiers and both deal with being in a "haunted" bunker. Outpost is about a "scientist" who recruits several ex-military mercs to take him to a 1940's German bunker in Eastern Europe. The Nazi's were doing experiments on their own soldiers to make them "invisible" in order to transport them without being seen. They developed a machine based on physics that was supposed to do just that. The machine would be worth billions if it truly exists. Once in the bunker, all hell breaks loose. The violence and gory are plentiful. Not a great movie, but entertaining enough! I have the trailer at the bottom of this post. Check it out and if it looks good to you, check out the movie!

Another TFAV update...

If you are interested in following another clip from my book, go back to my post of May 22, 2008. This part at the end of this post continues from the 5/22/08 post. Also, I took my book to Professor D. today and he said he should be finished reading it in about a month. He's teaching summer school and is one of the busiest guy's I know. That's why I'm so thankful that he has taken an interest in my book and has been so helpful to me over the past five years. I'm hoping that there isn't too much more to do other than grammatical editing. The book is so much tighter and flows so much better than the original piece that I handed him about four years ago. I'm very happy with it. Anyway, read the old post and come back to this post to read more. As always, I will keep you all posted on new developments.

John Winthrop and the Arabella physically brought Jonathan to this new land, but hope was what drew him here. Jonathan wanted nothing more then to be at peace with his soul and his God. The religious movement of the day gave him hope that a new beginning in a new land would give him the peace he desperately sought. A revolution of his soul is what he needed. A revolution of his drive and spirit beckoned fulfillment. There was a revolution indeed, but Jonathan was not prepared for the results of such a change.

In the midst of the Puritan revolution, Jonathan was born. On the other hand, it would be more appropriate to say, he died. On a ship crossing the Atlantic in 1630, they traveled to New England looking for what they called freedom. The Puritans wanted a better way of life for their wives and children, a place to live and worship without the dreadful persecution of the church state called England. A better way indeed, they would show the masses a pure England in this new land. They set sail in late March of 1630 from Lincolnshire, England with hopes and dreams of a land they could call their own. Jonathan, too, was looking for this so-called freedom.

He was a complicated soul. Early in his life he had left the Church, unwilling to be tied down to what he felt was hopeless tradition. He was excommunicated, which according to the Church meant that his soul was lost and his body would never return to dust. He was damned. Little did Jonathan realize the impact this would have on his life… his very soul. He went from job to job making a meager living. He had found work with a wealthy man named John Winthrop, who was a man of faith, wisdom, and means… of which the young man had none. It was simple, yet honest work, around the house and in the fields. One day, Mr. Winthrop came and told all of his laborers, as they were toiling in the fields, “I am going to the new land across the Atlantic. It will be a new world in which to live, work, and worship. It will not be easy, but any one of you who want to go and help me have free passage.” Many of the laborers were intrigued with the idea of a new land, a new beginning, and a fresh start. The young man had no idea just what a beginning it would be for him.

Asylum...

Couple things here today... Tina and I watched Asylum the other night. I put the review from my Netflix page down near the bottom of my blog in my review section. The movie started out pretty good, but the more characters they threw into the mix the weaker the acting became. The movie really wasn't that bad... up until one of the most important things in a movie (the ending!). It was CGI crap. Totally ruined it for me. I don't know how many movies we've seen where we really like it and then the ending just makes no sense or it just plain sucks! Happens more than I like! Anyway, enough about it... check out the trailer at the end of this post and I believe you will think this is a really great movie. It's not a total waste of time, but it could have been so much better!

I just wanted to thank several of my friends for visiting and commenting so often. There's several who visit and don't comment, but I'm thankful for any and all visits. So check out the trailer and the review! Thanks for the visit and check out the entire blog!

New "Favorite" site...

I put in a link to my Netfix page for anyone interested in checking it out. It's very much like a blog page in that you can put different things of interest on your page. There are different movie or TV groups that you can join and discuss movies, old TV shows, just about anything. It's not really affiliated with Netflix; it's set up by Netflix members for all Netflix members. It's fun. As I have said before, I should get paid for all the Netflix free advertising I do, but it is a great company and is a great way to get the DVD's you want without having to go to a video store or wherever you rent your DVD's. Any way, go to the right side of my blog under "My Favorite Sites" and click on "Frank's Netflix page" and it will send you there! Enjoy...

Psychological Horror....

Tina had to do a psych test for one of her classes and she wanted me to take it. She scored very high in many of the areas since she is a very outgoing person with a kind heart. HOWEVER... ol' Frank didn't do so well. Out of the five areas you are scored on, my highest score was AVERAGE!!!!! Average, was for emotional stability... at least I'm fairly stable. LOL! There are five areas: Extraversion Report, Agreeableness Report, Conscientiousness Report, Emotional Stability, and Openess. Your favorite horror fiend here scored low, and I mean LOW on the other four areas. We are talking in the less than 3% range for someone my age. I may be stable, but it looks like I can't stand people and I keep everything to myself! Damn accurate, if I have to say so myself... 20 years in retail will make you this way I guess! In honor of the greatest Psychological horror/thriller movie, Hannibal Lector (a very MAD doctor), I put a great clip set to the music of Papa Roach's Getting Away With Murder. I also have the link to the psych test. Enjoy the video and take the test!!! Interesting stuff!

Organizm...

I put a new review in my review section near the end of my blog. Sorry for not posting in almost a week, but I haven't been online for a few days for many reasons. The movie Organizm is a movie Tina and I watched a week or so ago and I found it to be quite entertaining. It reminded me of the old horror movies I used to watch in my grandparent's basement with all the lights off and the door closed. It's a biological horror/thriller where we need to have just a few people, maybe just one or two, who are the only ones that can save ALL of mankind. It's a story that has been told over and over again for as long as I can remember. Yet, this one was interesting to me because of the characters involved. A man born in the 50's with scars on the palms of his hands, put there by his mother so that he would never forget... Well the thing he was too never forget was just about to happen at Lambert Army Base (loved the "Lambert" thing because that is my grandmothers last name). So he goes to the base to warm them and that is when all hell breaks loose. Read the review and watch the trailer at the end of this post... I'll try to keep up with more regular post, but life has a way of getting in the way. Enjoy the trailer...

Afraid to go in the water??? Jaws!

We went to York Beach, Maine yesterday and spent the day on the beach with Molli. She had a softball tournament in Rochester, NH today and tomorrow. So Friday we spent most of the day on the beach with just a little pinball time for me at the arcade right on Short Sands in beautiful York Beach... Tina grew up there and we try to go there at least once a summer... more if we can afford it. Friday night we stayed at Tina's cousin Patty's house in Somersworth, NH... swimming pool, hot tub, and great BBQ ribs! I had to sleep on the floor, but it was fine with me:) Woke up and had a little pool time before going to Molli's softball tourney. They played GREAT! They won 2 out of 3 losing the one game by one run and winning one of the games 15-1! Tina and I had to come home tonight because I have to close at work tomorrow and Tina has her finals. Molli is staying there with her dad and has three more games tomorrow... should be good. In honor of my day at the beach I thought I should have a clip of the greatest beach movie of all times... JAWS!!! Trust me, to this day I really don't like going in water where I can't see the bottom. Another problem living in the frigid north is the ocean water is NEVER warm! I touched my toes in it and it was so freakin' cold. Had a really good two days and look forward to going to York again, soon I hope! This Jaws clip is an extended trailer... creepy!

Dog Soldiers...

I had a Netflix friend ask me about this movie the other day and it reminded me of how much I love this movie. Vampire movies (good ones) are my favorite, but werewolf movies have a spot in my heart as well. Dog Soldiers is a well written and well acted horror film. The concept is unsuspecting British soldiers on a training mission in the deep woods, come across a massacre of another group of British soldiers with their leader as the lone survivor. On their way out of the woods, they meet up with a woman who lives in the area. They end up getting trapped in a house and fighting for their lives. The special effects are great. The gore factor is quite high. How many will survive the night??? Watch the movie! The trailer is at the end of this post. This movie is well worth a watch!

Bloody-Disgusting.com...

This is one of my favorite sites to visit for all the updates, new releases, trailers, and news concerning all that is horror! I love going to the trailers section to see all the new horror movies that are coming out. This movie (Dorothy Mills) looks very creepy. The trailer is at the end of this post and you really need to see it. It revolves around a 15 year old Irish girl accused of attempted murder of a baby she was in-charge of. The trailer looks like she may have multiple personalities, but there seems to be much more to the movie and the village she lives in. Looks like a very good movie. Speaking of good Irish movies, Dog Soldiers is the best werewolf movie I've ever seen. Tension, gore, and a great story make this a keeper in my book. I have the trailer to that below the Dorothy trailer... watch them both!!! BTW, you can visit Bloody-Disgusting.com from the "My Favorite Sites" section on the right side of my blog...

The Signal...

I watched this movie last night and I have to admit, I'm somewhat divided on it. A part of me found it to be very interesting and entertaining. The other part of me found it to be quite annoying. I'll explain... The movie centered around three characters who are thrown into total chaos because of a "signal" transmitted over TV, radio, and phone lines. The transmission causes "normal" people to become lunatic killers. Sounds a little campy, but it really wasn't too cheesy. The gore factor was way up there and not for the faint of heart. The annoying aspect was mainly the flashback segments, which were MANY! Another problem I believe was the direction of the movie. There were three writers and directors and I felt like I was watching three different movies. It seemed that the flow was disrupted because of the different directors and those annoying flashbacks. The crazy thing is, I found the movie to be entertaining. It was shot in 13 days on a very small budget. The behind the scenes special features were far more interesting than the movie itself. All in all, it wasn't that bad of a movie... it just could have been so much better! Have the trailer at the end of this post, check it out.

TFAV1630 Updates...

Several things to mention concerning my book and my blog site. Saving the best for last, I'll start with the changes to my blog. The first is a video bar from You Tube with a ton of clips from horror movies and trailers. Put your cursor over the video to see the name and time of each video. I was able to use key words to get certain clips, so hopefully nothing unacceptable shows up! Under the Video Bar is a list of the sites I go to nearly every day. Just click on the site name and a window will open up to that site. Two of those sites are the ones I get all my new horror movie info from... great sites! I've added Ad sites after each post and the main Ad page near the middle of the blog. To be honest, a person does get paid from these ads, but in order to really make money you would have to have about 1,000 hits a day... I get about 3 or 4! However, if see an ad that interests you, by all means check it out. Clicking on an ad will just open up another window and you will not have to leave my blog. I also added a subscription link so that you can always know when I have put up a new post or comment. Finally, I added a Google Web Search to the blog.

Monday, I "finished" my book. I plan to print it out and take it to Professor D., and hopefully he will read it and give me more feedback on where I stand with it. I've rewritten it at least a dozen times, adding too and taking away from, to make it flow so much better. It's a great story... not just my opinion, I've had 2 other people read it who love it. One is a teacher and the other has a PHD and loves Steven King books, so I value their opinions and appreciate their help. Professor D. has helped me so much and I could never fully repay him... but I will try! I hope the book will be finished completely before years end so that I can get an agent and get it published... I'll put another section from it in a post in a few days.

I have a clip from several Bela Lugosi movies as Dracula in honor of my vampire book. Enjoy!!!
